June 25, 2015. More at St. John's, NL seeing Cape Spear Lighthouses

This area is the most easterly point of North America.

The Canadians and Americans held a defense post here during WWI.

One of the guns. The fort was never attacked.

During the season whales can be spotted. This explains about the fin whale that we saw yesterday.

John walked through the barracks and tunnel. I was too scarred.

Looking out the shared window from the second floor bedroom of the lighthouse.

The supply room. Sperm oiled was used to fuel the lamps in the lighthouse.

The rum barrel was right outside the children's bedroom. This is looking down the bent staircase and looking out the window to the sea.

It was a typical foggy day.  There are maybe 80 sunny days in a year.

Looking back at the road we travelled to get here.

This would be right after Princess Diana and Charles were married if I remember.
